Hello World!

Welcome to my blog. Yay!!! My name is Jabulani Nyoni and I love numbers and I love data. Not sure how the two differ but I guess the fact that I referred to them separately means they are two unique entities. Anyways that is besides the fact I have created this blog, I have created it to share my passion for data related issues, inventions, releases, etc by communicating with a wider data loving audience.

I have been involved in various data related projects in my career that have exposed me to different roles within a data team ranging from data analyst, business analyst, bi developer, data architect and data engineering. I have recently started dabbling in software engineering. My current role is a Lead Data Engineer which is a good blend of the skills I have acquired so far. I am building a modern data lakehouse on AWS. I am an actuarial science and financial mathematics graduate. I have always been interested in data and programming such that post varsity I got heavily involved in the data space and I have never looked back ever since.

I am currently based in Cape Town, South Africa, the mother city which has quite a very healthy number of tech based startups which are making good use of data for decision making.

I have a very loving wife who makes sure I get enough time to explore the beauty that is Cape Town and coupled with her love for travelling she has also made me a “semi-wanderluster”. In addition to that, I really enjoy experiencing different cultures and understanding them. To attest to that I did some data consulting in a middle east country for almost 4 years.

I am also a father of 2 beautiful girls. Their smiles completely melt my heart.We are on cloud 9 whenever all 4 of us are together. Basically all the time (wink wink). They are my motivation to keep pushing and striving for greatness.
